Server Remuxes Files Sent to Fire TV Stick

So there is a new behavior that I noticed after updating my AndroidTV client to 0.18.4.

Now, for any file that is being played, my server is remuxing it before playback is allowed. Though, if the file can't be remuxed quick enough, the client app throws an error "Playback Error Occurred." Everything seemed to be working perfectly with 0.18.3 and now this is new.

All of my content is in MP4 containers which is claimed by Jellyfin documentation to be compatible with AndroidTV.

I thought it could've been because my files have a .m4v file extension (which is still an MP4 container) but even when playing actual .mp4 files on the android TV, it still forces the server to remux it.

If I force the server to transcode the files, then there seems to be no issues but I want to be able to direct play my content as well.

P.S. I tried to recreate the issue on my computer (web browser) and could not recreate the behavior, therefore it's specific to AndroidTV.

    Any help would be great!

    AndroidTV Version: 0.18.4
    Jellyfin Server Version: 10.10.3

Post the FFmpeg and server logs when you play a file.

    Hi there,

Let's keep this thread alive for a little while because I'm not sure what's going on. It seems to be working perfectly fine this morning. I tested everything the exact same way I had last night where it was giving me problems and I can't recreate the issue (tried the exact same files as well). Also, everything is running on the same versions as last night (server-side and client-side). In other words, nothing has changed that I can see.

Any light shed on this situation would be appreciated but I'd love for this thread to remain open in case the problem presents itself again.

    Thanks!

Okay so it happened again today. My logs are as follows. I noticed a couple of weird behaviors.

The first was the same as last time, where it remuxed the file when it didn't need to and also through a playback error (I had to restart the movie to actually get it to "remux" the file and play it. (Log1.pdf)

The second was new, I'm wondering if they are related. The behavior was that once the movie was over, it didn't stop playing. The timer said it was at 1:35:50/1:35:50 but audio kept playing.(Log2.pdf)

Again, I tried to recreate these behaviors on a web browser but failed as everything worked perfectly as expected. Seems to still point towards an AndroidTV problem.

    AndroidTV Client Version: 0.18.4

Did you enable any of the experimental settings in the Android TV app? Also, neither of those are the ffmpeg log.
