Weird issue with symbols being recognised as artists on music library

Experiencing odd issue where &, +, (, ) , [ and ] are being recognised as individual artists

    Hey all,

Apologies if this has been answers or raised previously however I was struggling to find a similar instance to what I'm experiencing.

I have been a previous long term user of Emby however recently I have decided to spin up a Jellyfin instance as I'm considering moving over however I've noticed a weird issue where in artists I'm getting the symbols ()[]+& and a few others where they are recognised as individual artists.

In Emby I haven't had this issue as whilst my music library I'm sure isn't catalogued and identified as well as it should be I've spent months tweaking various tags after running the albums through Music Brainz to fix duplicate artists, unusual names, trying to match artist to artists and making sure ; or // is used for splitting artists.

I've checked the whitelist delimiter option and use artists with \/; used as the chosen options for delimiters however when I look at some of the affected tracks it's almost as if the text has been rearranged.

I'm sure this is going to be an issue with the way the tracks are tagged however has anyone seen this before and if you have any advice it would be appreciated Smiling-face

Figured this out in the end and it looks to be a mix of the following
    • The ArtistSort field of the tracks was populated differently to Artists
    • Jellyfin couldn't match ArtistSorts and Artists together so listed them as separate entities
    • To correct the ArtistSort field had to be changed and then the albums needed a re-scan for updated metadata
    • On some Jellyfin got stuck but after correcting them it seems to have stuck
