[Using Jellyfin Server 10.9.6 on Windows]
    • This is just a post to check if anyone can confirm if what I'm trying to do is not possible or if I'm just doing something wrong.

I am aware that you can organise a Show by an alternative display order (Aired / Absolute / DVD) by selecting that option from the dropdown within the Show 'Edit Metadata' menu.

What I am wondering is if it is possible to utilise the TVDB "Alternate Order" order:

I have found many posts about this from the past saying its just one of those annoying things you have to do manually and then lock the metadata but the reason I'm making this post is that I found a release note on a recent version of the TVDB Jellyfin plugin (v12, 22 May 24) that explicitly states (emphasis mine):
    • Add support for regional, alternate, altdvd orders (#139) @scampower3

I am currently using TVDB Jellyfin plugin v13 and currently the alternative display order dropdown does not show an option for 'Alternate Order' or 'Alternate' (as seen in above screen snip).
For the library I have disabled every other Matadata downloader and the options do not change.
I have tried all of the above existing selectable display orders (i.e. Digital/Story Arc/Production/TV) and none of them seem to equate to the TVDB 'Alternate Order'.
I have tried manually editing the tvshow.nfo and changing <displayorder> to 'alternate' then refreshing the show metadata and that does not seem to work.
I have tried manually adding an 'Alternate Order' TVDB Season ID to a season and then refreshing the metadata and that does not seem to work.
I have tried adding the 'Alternate Order' TVDB Season ID to the season folder name and then refreshing the metadata and that does not seem to work.

I don't mind if its not possible but it just seems strange that based on the TVDB Jellyfin Plugin release note it should be an available function?

    Extra info:
The specific show I am trying this on is Monogatari which has a TVDB 'Book Order' which it lists as 'Usable as "Alternate Order" in API-connected systems.'
My season folders are set up as per the TVDB Book/Alternate Order.

The drop down for alternate orderings is not dynamic. It is a generic and static list.

Right, so there would be no way for the TVDB plugin to change that.
This question may be better suited to the TVDB plugin github issues page to find out what they meant by that feature release note. Thanks

I've seen DVD releases that have different orderings depending on the region they were released in. I THINK that feature will pick the correct DVD order for the region selected in Jellyfin or your library.
