I just installed Jellyfin, and so far am loving how simple and easy to use it is. There are just 2 things that bug me, and am wondering if there are solutions for them:

    1. I'm using Jellyfin to host personal media - video clips to share with family etc. At the moment my media/library folder structure is "Media" folder, followed by a lot of sub folders with home videos in each (think "Christmas 2023" folder, "New Years 2024" folder, "XYZ's Wedding" folder etc).

My question is - is there a way to assign the "Media" folder as the library, but it automatically displays the sub folders on the main interface?

Because at the moment when I load the Jellyfin interface, you have to click (and enter) the "Main Media" folder FIRST, then it'll display all the sub folders (at which point you have to click whichever one you want, go into that folder, and THEN pick the video clip you want to watch).

Obviously I could add each sub folder as a separate media library instead, but not only is this very cumbersome, it means I have to manually add a new library for each new event in the future. I believe this issue is negated if I have the Media folder set as the library, as I'm assuming any new sub-folders/content get picked up by Jellyfin automatically.

    2. On the official mobile app, once I have found the event I wish to view and clicked into that library, and then found the clip I'd like to watch, I have to click on the clip twice to actually play it. This is because the first time I click on it, it goes into another screen that displays details of the clip (video specs etc). Once on that screen I have to click on the actual "Play" icon - clicking on the header image or thumbnail doesn't do anything. Is there a way to avoid this? It's an unnecessary extra step. Ideally once I'm in the specific event folder and seeing the thumbnails of all the clips, I can just tap on a clip and it automatically plays (doesn't need to go into the "video details" screen).

Any help/advice/hints/tips would be greatly appreciated.

Negative. There is no way to get Jellyfin to show subfolders on the home screen. That could be a nightmare if you misconfigured a library.

Ah that sucks. Oh well, I guess I'll deal. Thanks for the reply!
