I have had my Jellyfin server setup for a while now and been using it primarily on my PCs and Google Pixel phone.  Have not had any issues but suddenly this morning, I went to play a video file via the Jellyfin App on my Pixel phone and it would not work.  The player would load, but be blank; when I hit the play button, the player closes and lands me back on the homepage.  I tried several videos but had the same result.

I can play music files just fine, both individually and via playlists, but no video files. I can also navigate just fine on my phone.

I opened up my PCs and have no issue playing the videos there; both on the server itself or using a remote connection via my laptop.

I checked the activity history on the server, and it shows that my phone logged in, and shows all the music files I've played, but shows nothing about trying to play a video file; no errors, no record of me calling up a video; nadda.

I'm not great with the logs, but pulled up the ones from today and can't find any from my attempts to load a video on my phone; I can see the files I've played via the web player on my server, but that's it.

I tried a few different videos, but same outcome.

I tried all the usual troubleshoot steps: restarted the server; restarted my phone; uninstalled/reinstall the Jellyfin App on my phone; clear the cache and files from the app on my phone, but nothing is working.

Been searching this form and reddit but have not found any further steps to try and resolve this, especially as this only started today; was watching videos on it just last night before going to bed.

Any ideas as to how to try and resolve?

To update: I booted my tablet running android and video is working fine there.  So, I would guess I've done something to change the settings on my phone.

I tried downloading some video players (VLC, MPV) thinking could just need a codex installed, but those have not fixed anything.

Oddly, video works on the other apps I've tried (Youtube, Imgur, Paramount Plus) just not on Jellyfin.

I did change the Video Player Type from 'Integrated Player' to 'Web Player' and that did fix the issue.  But, I do like being able to use picture-in-picture a lot and that is only supported using the Integrated Player.  Is there a way to 'fix' my Integrated Player?

I was able to access my sever logs and can see an error showing up each time that I try to play a video:

emby.server.implementations.httpserver.websocketmanager: WS"100.95.201.200" error receiving data: "the remote party closed the websocket connection without completing the close handshake."

I found some references to this on Git, but the latest on them say this issue was resolved for them in previous patches: https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin/issues/12090

The integrated player only plays so much. External players on the phone (both VLC and MXPlayer are ones I use regularly) support PiP if they're allowed that permission. I have to use MXPlayer with any of my older anime that only has VOB subs since it looks like trash when it's transcoded.

I'm seeing a lot of other posts that look like the issue I'm having here.

To update: I can't even get my Jellyfin app to connect on my android as of a few days ago. Jellyfin works on my other devices, and I can connect and use Finamp just fine on my android, but the main app just won't work anymore.

I get the "tried 5 candidates for input without success" message.

I tried deleting the network file from my server, as that has worked in the past to restore connectivity, but didn't work this time.

I've tried all the things I posted above again, but none are restoring connectivity.

Anyone have an idea as to what is going on?

I have resolved this issue, but not sure what fixed it for sure.

    1. Had my server powered down since I couldn't get it working; when I powered it up to try fixing it again, my windows 10 install wouldn't boot and eventually I the "last quality update" to get it booted.

    2. I checked version numbers of my server and found mine was not the most current, so when I got booted I updated the server version.

Probably my issue stemmed from my server version being out of date, but not 100% sure.
