This has probably been talked about a million times, I went for the subreddit, but found it was closed and I was directed to these forums by admins.

( Error: This client isn't compatible with the media and the server isn't sending a compatible media format.)

For more information, my setup is as follows:

Jellyfin is running on my Synology Rack Station RS422+. I had no issues that I personally had noticed, until recently.
    Version: 10.8.13

    Operating System: Linux

    Architecture: X64

This guide and a few others were used during setup, but this covers basically how mine is configured: https://recoverit.wondershare.com/nas-re...ology.html

I have over 400 titles, and for the most part, everything is playable on a web browser, and the Roku TV App (x2 4k Roku boxes in my home).
I will upload a movie, for example, "Tarot," and it will work just fine for quite some time. But it could be hours or days later, I go to play it and receive an error.
The solution for me so far, was just to delete the file for each movie or show that was nonfunctional, and reupload it, but this is growing tiring and I am new to this setup for the most part. There are no logs, or any other errors. Users have reported that converting from MKV to MP4 fixes the issues, but I have also heard the other way around..it seems so many things can cause this error, such as file format, subtitles, plugins, or even just the Roku itself. I am lost.

    Plugins & Repositories:
    AudioDB
    Cover Art Archive
    Merge Versions
    MusicBrainz
    OMDb
    OPDS Feed
    Open Subtitiles
    SkinManager
    Studio Images
    Subtitle Extact
    TMDb
    TheTVDB
    Jellyfin Merge Versions Plugin (https://raw.githubusercontent.com/daniel...ifest.json)

Update (1): I found this discussion, which reinforced my idea that this can be caused by so many different things, and I am not even sure where to start at this point.

Most of the time this error is caused by either file permissions or failure to transcode.

Can you share your full Jellyfin logs via pastebin?

Migrated to Plex, wasn't the solution I was looking for, but after a whole host of other issues that cropped up, this was the best for me. Plex had no issues with the exact same Media folders I had directed Jellyfin to see, and I have had no other issues at all since setup, and have even been able to have a better experience for myself and my users.

    Marking as solved.
