As i had to wipe/reinstall due to insufficient backups during the migration from 10.10 to 10.11  this fresh install of 10.11 is so slow and causes everything to hang while a scan is going on, does the new patch help at all?

    Thanks,

To help you, we need some basic informations:
    What OS?
    Is it a docker-compose setup?
What hardware? (Just to know, if its slow due to hardware limitations?)
    Debian 13.1 | Jellyfin 10.11.2 in docker | SilverStone Grandia GD08 | MB: ASUS H110M-P | I5-7400 | Intel Arc A310 | RAM 16 GB | HDD 26 TB

    I don't use docker.
Dedicated Machine with base Arch Linux and Jellyfin.
10.10 and under were fast and awesome, once my install was corrupted by the 10.11 upgrade I had to wipe and do fresh install at 10.11.1 and it's working again but so slow and laggy, literally breaks the UI as in it will not load until a scan is done.
    To Start over I moved
    #/etc/jellyfin
    #/var/cache/jellyfin
    #/var/lib/jellyfin
    #/var/log/jellyfin
    #/usr/share/jellyfin
directories and restarted Jellyfin to create new config, db , etc

Added back in users and setup libraries etc and it works but just so slow man.
    No changes made.

I love Jellyfin and not complaining as it is what it is, FOSS software with no warranty or guarantees Winking-face

Just trying to find out before I fire off an upgrade if it breaks things further so I can avoid spending the time to restore everything.

    Thanks

It does not fix the slowness but it doesn't hurt anything from what I've seen if you are already using 10.11.
I complain about Jellyfin a lot and have no idea what I'm doing.

Self hosting does require you to spend time, but why not use docker-compose? I do, and it works great. Currently i am in the process of diving into proxmox VE 9.0 to see if its will be even better :-) (Currently using Debian 13 headless + docker-compose) and also have other services.

    I hear ya.
Docker is useful, I run many services on it but Jellyfin is not going there.

Thanks, doing a backup now then will give it a shot.
*update* Backup/Upgrade done, seems to work OK, it's still slower than before 10.11.

It might just be problems with arch (those who use Linux know arch is very difficult.) I'm not sure though.

I think I found the issue (or a symptom..)
When doing library scans the sqlite DB crashes out (or tosses constant errors)
I'll tinker with it and see if I can sort something out

I think it's fixed now after some digging found out about the option to adjust the DB setting :
    /etc/jellyfin/database.xml

Changed NoLock to Optimistic and restarted Jellyfin, scanned the library that was having issues and it completed.

    Thanks all

If you wish to continue fighting with v10.11.x, set the locking mode to optimistic.

It still won't fix everything, but it will fix that.  After days of frustration, I gave up and did a fresh install of v10.10.7, as I unfortunately failed to create a backup prior to upgrading.
