Alright, so I recently built a brand new NAS specifically to run Unraid and Jellyfin as a docker app (I had been running Jellyfin on a Windows Server for years).

This is a completely brand new from scratch build, I've never worked with Unraid before so hopefully I'm missing something simple. I'm going to list the steps I've taken so far, but please let me know if there's a "best practice" for any of this stuff that I may have overlooked.

    1. Under Shares in Unraid, I performed the Add Share funcation to create a new share called "Media". I set this folder to have the SMB Security Settings of "Export: Yes" which to my understanding allows it to be viewable on the network. [connecting to it from my Windows PC to add files confirms this]
    2. Within this newly created "Media" share, I created two new folders: "Movies" and "TV Shows". As an example, Movies now lists it's directory as /mnt/user/Media/Movies . Which seems correct to me(?)
    3. I then copied my media files into that subfolder
    4. I installed the official Jellyfin Docker app. In the docker configuration I have Library (movies): set to "/mnt/user/Media/Movies" and Library (series): set to "/mnt/user/Media/TV Shows"
    5. Then, in Jellyfin itself, when I added the libraries for Movies and Shows I was able to navigate to the appropriate folders. For example, my movies library is currently reporting that it's scanning Folder: "/:/mnt/user/Media/Movies:ro"
    6. Now, that naming convention seems off to me, but I got to that folder by navigating to it within Jellyfin, so it seems like it should work.

Other than those things, I haven't done any other configuration to my Unraid instance or Jellyfin. Am I missing something obvious? Is there a better way I should be setting up my Media shares within Unraid/Jellyfin?

I've spent probably over two hours trying to find an answer to this problem, and genuinely feel stuck on this one. Any help or suggestions would be immensely appreciated.

Well... I finally solved my problem. It turns out then when adding the network shares to the Jellyfin docker config, I had simply copied and pasted the file path, thinking that would be sufficient. It looks like Unraid/Jellyfin doesn't work like that. After find the timestamped portion of this video: https://youtu.be/RaNayscmO9A?t=145 I noticed that when he clicked on the folder he had a dropdown to select the appropriate share.

So I went back into the Jellyfin config, and this time cleared the field and selected the correct folder structure via the auto-populated dropdown menu. Once I had done this, I went back into the Jellyfin Web Interface, removed the old (erroneous) libraries, and selected the correct ones. This time I no longer have that weird colon at the beginning of the library name and it no longer ends in ":ro".

So everything is working now! Hopefully this helps if someone else has this same issue down the road.

This helped me! I gave up on getting this to work a few months ago, I followed what was done (I swear its what I did the first time, but apparently not) in the video and now my share is all set up. Thank you!
