    Hi,

I wanted to have a small fanless PC to stream Media from my Unraid Server to our non-smart Sony Bravia (which won't die). It is running Linux Mint, Jellyfin Mediaplayer, Browser playback and also Kodi.

My problem is, the Jellyfin Client App is better designed BUT it uses 100% CPU when streaming from the Server and results in noticeable stuttering, same file in Kodi (with jellyfin Addon) uses only around 50-60%. Is there a way to use the native app and why is it using so much more ressources? (even the streaming via the webapp is better than JF Client)

the tested file is 1080 mkv which cloud be transcoded from the server (but only at 4Mbps it is not lagging)

Thanks in advance for the help,

Try other options on Settings->Client options, like hardware acceleration, try disabling see if it makes any difference

Intel Quicksync (QSV) is on, turning HW acc off will cause even more lagging. Tried different settings, either no change or it gets worse. Playing the mkv from the minipc is even worse.

Is the CPU too weak? How does a FireTV or similar handle the load with passive cooling in a very small format
