I'm playing content on my TV from the server I set up on my laptop but failed to play dolby vision content, seems like it just played SDR. Regular HDR10 is playing correctly though.

My TV is TCL C805 which supported Dolby Vision and had no issue when I was using Plex. The server on my laptop is the latest windows x64 v10.9.11. Please help me which settings I should adjust to enable Dolby vision on my TV, thank you.

What kind of dolby vision is it? Can you share your jellyfin logs via pastebin?
    Jellyfin 10.10.7 (Docker)
    Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS w/HWE
    Intel i3 12100
    Intel Arc A380
    OS drive - SK Hynix P41 1TB

I think I figured it out, seems like it's a subtitle issue?
I enabled HEVC in transcoding setting and played videos with no subs, DV was played correctly. Then I switched to ass format subs the video just failed to play.

Are you using subtitles during playback? If so, what happens if there are no subtitles selected?

Also, the marketing for this TV's specs are infurating. "Dolby Vision IQ with Precision Detail". Ok. I get that, but that kind of Dolby Vision does the SoC support!?!?!?!

It probably supports DV8, but I'd like confirmation instead of imprecise marketing speak!

Looks like I missed your update while I was researching the specs.

Also, what are your system specs? It doesn't look like you have hardware acceleration enabled.

I think Dolby Vision IQ is just a picture setting mode which I've never used. I'm not sure what kind the TV supports but as I said never had issues when using Plex.

As for my laptop specs, it's:

Processor AMD Ryzen 7 7730U with Radeon Graphics            2.00 GHz
Installed RAM 16.0 GB (13.8 GB usable)
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Regardless, it sounds like the subtitles were the issue. Looked like it was burning them in, which involves transcoding. Since exoplayer does not support styling for ASS subs, which most ASS subs have. Whether Plex is playing the ASS subs without styling, IDK.

Hopefully soon, HDR to HDR transcoding will be a thing in Jellyfin.

You should be able to enable VAAPI transcoding, btw.

I checked the guide and it says VAAPI only availiable on Linux, did something change or my only option is AMF? Which one is better?

My system is W11 home so it doesn't come with group policy editor. Tried to use a third party app PolicyPlus but the configuration can't be saved after restart my laptop. Any other way I can do this?

I missed the part where you were running Windows.

    Yes, use AMF.

I'm not sure how critical the group policy as long as you aren't using remote desktop.

I figuired out the gpedit thing and followed the guide step-by-step, but when I lowered resolution of a video to trigger encoding the playback failed.
Could you please check the log for me? https://pastebin.com/bfsEWLa1
