All customization gone upon remounting of NFS shares

Hi everyone

Instead of having one share /mnt/media and the Movies, Shows, Music I made individual shares for these and mounted them to /mnt/media/Movies and so on.

Now all my customizations are gone. All approved children's shows and movies are no longer carrying the approved tag.

The data and its path did not change throughout this. Why did this happen? And when can we finally have a proper backup and restore function for this?


Edit: I have restored the VM from backups so the metadata is more or less okay again, however music still doesn't play even though the files are all there and readable.

How are you handling your kid's approved library? With symlinks? When you were making these changes to the mounts, was Jellyfin still running?

I manually set the rating to "APPROVED".

I believe it was running. However in the meantime I have restored the whole VM from backup. There are now still things that won't play for 90 seconds. Clarkson's farm doesn't play at all and quite frankly I am evaluating Emby now.

Not that that is doing any better... it gets stuck during library scanning. So yeah, it is quite possible that there is an issue with my data but neither Emby nor Jellyfin produce any logging of value so who knows? When I open the Clarkson's Farm files over SMB with VLC, playback is rather immediate.

Can I turn off transcoding completely to see whether that makes a difference? I turned off hardware acceleration but that changes nothing.

I have no issue with combing through the library and converting bad media but I'd have to know what to look for in the first place.

I've solved my issues. I switched to Emby.
