Sorry, I was trying an older version(10.9.9). When I updated to 10.10.3 the QSV Device appeared but changing it made no difference.

Yes, I changed the container to privileged and it worked! Why would this be?

I'm not fully versed in how LXC's work. But getting unprivileged containers access to GPUs is a pain, from what I can tell.
