So, with some doing and a lot of reading I was able to figure out how to get the Doctor who specials to be put into the right order. I was even able to jam a mid season special in with a little trial and error on the metadata.

After reading around a bit, I know we are at the mercy of the metadata source for getting the correct episodes but these particular ones have me baffled entirely as I can find them at the source with the episode number but when it comes up in Jellyfin its not finding the right thing.

First one was "Revolution of the Daleks" which should have been S00E157 as seen in the source https://thetvdb.com/series/doctor-who-20...es/7615160. I was able to figure out, for some reason, it was actually finding it with S00E158... Sure rename the file move on.

Next up, the very next episode "Eve of the Daleks" which should have been the actual S00E158 as seen here https://thetvdb.com/series/doctor-who-20...es/8873770. I have now changed the name through the next 10 in order and still not found the right one. So my ask is either, what episode is it for real OR is there a way I can just make the API call myself and do a quick loop to find it more fastly.

That's as far as I have up to for now, looking through the episode list... I suspect I'm gonna have some more fun times as I KNOW the numbers on tvdb don't match.

... To answer my own question and maybe anyone else looking around for this... TVDB (source that accurately lists the special episode numbers until 157 and beyond) and MovieDB (default source for jellyfin) number these special episodes differently and I could've been at it all day as Eve of the Daleks is actually E208. https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/57243-doct...pisode/208

Soooo thanks for listening to my ramble, gonna post this for the sake of leaving it as information for anyone that stumbles on it. If you are reading this and want help with ordering some of the specials into the correct spots so they play in line while you are watching the regular seasons... pretty sure I have that figured out now and can help.

You could use the TVDB ordering if you install the TVDB plugin and make it the primary metadata source.

Make sure to turn off the "missing episode fetcher" that it comes with.
