Hardware Transcoding not working?

I am running on a 27" imac with radeon (AMD) gpu. I've set hardware playback to amd and I still get lots of trouble on playback. SKippung around takes forever etc. Seems there's no difference between hw transcode and not. Log doesn't have anything glaring. Can someone help?

Are you still running MacOS on your iMac? Or are you running Linux? Your log indicates you are software transcoding. And not very quickly.

I am running mac os. And yeah, it doesn't seem very speedy

Which acceleration type did you select? I think you should be selecting VAAPI instead of AMF.

I was using AMF as it was AMD gpu but I can try VAAPI. Will report back
