    Specifying metadata fields to download

Confused by the "Enabled Fields" section

I've been struggling for about a week trying to configure which types of metadata are downloaded via Jellyfin's native options. To explain the problem, I'll use the "Shows" library as an example:

Currently, "TheMovieDB" is enabled in the "Metadata downloaders (TV Shows)," "Metadata downloaders (Seasons)," and "Metadata downloaders (Episodes)," sections of the "Manage Library" menu. It is also enabled for each respective "Image fetcher (type)" sections. This is shown here:

In the "Enabled Fields" section of the "Edit Metadata" menu of the "Show" library on the home screen, I've only selected "Name," "Overview," and "Genre." However, these settings do not extend to any sub-folders (such as a specific series) within the show library. This is shown in here:

Editing no further settings at this point, clicking "Refresh" with "Replace all metadata" and "Replace existing images" selected in the "Refresh metadata" menu of the "Show library" button on the home screen results in all possible metadata fields being added to the series. This is shown here (the "tags" metadata field is not shown):

To ensure that only the images, name, overview and genre metadata is downloaded from TheMovieDB, these settings must be manually applied to every sub-folder (specific seasons) and file (specific episodes) within the "Show" library before the metadata retrieval process occurs. This still leaves metadata such as "Original Title," "Community Rating," "Release date," and "End date," to be manually deleted.

Is it possible to configure Jellyfin's native settings such that all content within a library retrieves the same respective metadata fields without specifying that for each piece of content individually (eg. check one box instead of 30)?

    Not that I'm aware of.

It looks like someone mentioned this issue back in 10.8.1, but nothing was ever done with it.

You can try commenting on it stating that this is still an issue.

Alright, thank you for letting me know. I left a comment on the post you linked, which references this one for additional context.
