    Stacked Trickplay

When using trickplay preview, there are multiple images stacked one on top of the other.

    Hi All

First off, big thank you to all those involved in the latest 10.10 update. Some great changes made.

The change that I have been looking forward to most is the trickplay storage in the media folders. After the update I followed through on migrating all of the trickplay files into the media folders. I have another server operating off the same source of files and when using trickplay on the new server, the trickplay image when hovering over the time bar shows multiple images stacked one on top of the other. Additionally, the images start a good deal above the time bar (physical location on the screen). I am operating on a docker container running on a Synology NAS. I have checked and both of the servers have identical trickplay settings for when they are generated. I have checked the error occurs on multiple accounts across different devices. Any suggestions on what could be causing this and how it could be fixed? I have attached a picture to provide context of the issue.

    Thanks a lot in advance!

Try deleting the trickplay for this movie and regenerating them. I've seen this once before and the user had to regenerate the trickplays for the affected movie.

Yep, you're absolutely right. When I get the server running on the NAS to generate the trickplay it works without issue. This is because the data that it commits to the Trickplayinfos table in the jellyfin.db is correct. However, the information it commits to that DB when scanning the trickplay files that already exist is incorrect. It appears that the height value is not being divided by 10 like the width value is. It is almost as if there needs to be a function outside of generating trickplay files that just confirms the data about the trickplay files are correct inside the DB.

I would happily just regenerate the trickplay files but as the CPU in my NAS barely outperforms a pocket calculator it would be much more preferable if it didn't need to be done.

I have amended the initial post with an additional image of the db table I mention above. Looking at the height column the issue is quite clear. Those with Height < 200 were files generated by the NAS.

You don't have to delete ALL your trickplays. But you can rescan JUST the movie and "replace all metadata" and check "replace existing trickplay images" and that will trigger a replacement of the trickplays.

I wouldn't advise modifying the DB unless you REALLY know what you are doing. And I am definitely not a DB expert.

I suddenly got this issue with my entire media library. Any fixes other then re-generating trickplays? Or else this is going to take weeks...

AFAIK, no. But, IIRC, the bug that caused this problem was fixed in a release since this thread was opened.

If you haven't already, check "Only generate images from key frames".

Dashboard > Playback > Trickplay > Only generate images from key frames

This will MASSIVELY speed up trickplay creation.
