    Hi everyone,

I'm glad that the Jellyfin team has decided to set up their own forums after the Subreddit has been made private due to Reddit's shenanigans.

However, there's two things I noticed about that and wanted to ask about:

    1. The subreddit links to the Jellyfin contact page ( https://jellyfin.org/contact/ ) which only mentions Matrix, Discord, IRC, Mastodon and Twitter - all of which are basically Chat platforms. Reading your announcement post about this forum, I definitely agree with the statement that a place for long-term discussions (like a forum) is needed outside of Reddit. So is there a particular reason why this forum isn't at the top position of Jellyfin's contact page? Shouldn't the goal for people who need help be to search a forum of known issues and existing solutions first, before having to hop onto a Chat to talk to others?

Or is this just because the Forum is so new and you don't want to lead people to an empty place? But if so, how is this forum supposed to get popular if it's not linked from anywhere? The contact page doesn't mention it, the Subreddit doesn't mention it. I just stubled upon it by googling "Jellyfin forum" because I wondered if there was an unofficial forum somewhere.

    2. The existing subreddit contains (or, rather, contained) tons of useful posts and solutions. Many times in the past when I googled for a Jellyfin issue, Reddit was like the 1st or 2nd result with the solution, and that's all gone now. It's going to take a really long time to replicate all that content elsewhere, like here.

I absolutely understand why you've moved away from Reddit, but have you thought about possibly leaving the Subreddit in restricted mode instead of making it fully private? That would block everyone from posting and commenting so all new discussions or questions would be held elsewhere (like here), but it wouldn't remove all the existing content from the public view which would be really helpful for people using Jellyfin.

    Hey Leseratte,

    1. This forum is "Technically" still in the making and we are still in the process of preparing everything. There are still some bugs with the forum we want to Iron out before making the big announcement everywhere.

    2. There are plans for the Subreddit, which will be announced soon as well.
    typos are finders, keepers.
