    Hello,

I plan on buying a NUC/Optiplex and use it as a server next to my NAS. Jellyfin will be running inside a Docker container, alongside a container for my web server and a few other non CPU-heavy containers). I looked at the documentation for the hardware requirements ( https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/admini...selection/ ) but I'm still a bit lost.

I would like to stream/transcode to a maximum of 3 differents simultanenous users (usually 2160p/1080p H265 videos). 4K will never be an option, and I don't plan on using AV1 anytime soon. I have a budget around 2-300€ but I'm okay with paying a little bit more if needed.

    What would you suggest ?

    Thanks in advance!

Any optiplex or NUC with 8th gen Intel CPUs and newer would meet your needs for transcoding. If your content is HDR, an iGPU may not be able to handle 3 simultaneous streams since tone mapping is significantly more demanding than plain transcoding.

    8th gen Intel+
4GB of RAM minimum, preferably 8GB

If you get an optiplex and have some budget left over, consider adding an Intel Arc A310. Super cheap, extremely capable. Would definitely be able to handle 3 HDR tone maps. Not sure what the availability is in the EU. But they can be had for less than US$100 here. Ignore this if your content is definitely not HDR.

BTW, I removed your other thread in troubleshooting since you made this one. I was about to move it here anyway.

I don't need HDR and don't plan on using it anytime soon - Based on what you said,  the Optiplex 3060 (i5 8500, 8GB ram and a nice SSD) seems like a perfect fit for me (The intel NUCs being a bit harder to search and they seem to cost more overall).
I'll continue doing some research and see if I can grab a 3060 MFF (i5 8500T) or something similar from Intel for ~200€, as they were at "only" 150€ last week on some german website. Big thanks for your informations (and also for deleting the other thread), very helpful ! Ok-hand
