I've seen a few discussions of this but not seem any resolutions.

I've imported all my media, and while it took several hours I was fine about that, however now that that's all completed it takes an unreasonably long time for the imported media to be displayed in the UI and I basically have this blue spinning circle looping indefinitely. I can still click through things, even with the loading circle spinning, but it takes several minutes to open each page, if at all.

I have Jellyfin running on a Synology DS224+, which I know is not the most powerful of media centres, but it should still be able to at least display what media is available even if it were to struggle with transcoding. Previously I had Plex running on this NAS and while I had issues with it it did at least display the available media and (generally) played things if they weren't too complicated. I'm currently in the process of switching over to Jellyfin but am finding the interface so ridiculously unresponsive it's basically impossible to use.

    Any idea what's going on?

    1. I would look at the Jellyfin server logs to see if it's currently doing any server-intensive thing that happens on a new server.

    2. I would also look at if the Synology NAS isn't doing something else like data scrubbing or SMART tests on the HDDs. Since Synology forces everything to run off of the HDDs, having other things running apart from Jellyfin will lower the already limited I/O of the HDDs.

Hmm, after a reboot it seems to have improve remarkably.

I'm sure I rebooted before but I just tried again now and after the second reboot things seem fine. Strange...

Okay, nope. I take that back.
    It's gone all slow again.

And now it seems fine again??

When it was working just before I did start playing a video that I wasn't confident had downloaded properly, and while it started fine I jumped to the middle to see if it would "seek" properly and it was after I attempted to jump to the middle that everything fell over.

As I say, it seems fine again now so it did eventually sort itself out but it seems I need to do more experimenting...
