Hey all!
New to jellyfin, watched videos on it for years. just switched from plex. Already ran Kodi in past.
Anyways back to the subject. Need to know how to be able to connect to my jellyfin server from devices not on my local network. Im on a windows PC, Utilizing a nord vpn. what programs do i need to accomplish this that i can research? also how does the url instance deal work? super new to that aspect of jellyfin. whats safest for sharing my account. tried running meshnet through nord for the gf's house and wasnt a fan. what are my other options? just want to be able to download an app and be able to stream my media while away. preferably without granting remote access to my entire pc. any explanation advice or suggestion is hugely appreciated. all the videos ive read are walkthroughs for linux. . . which i am not a user of. . .
Also if it matters im in the process of converting all my media to 1080p h.264 AAC, or 720p h.264 AAC. This is the preferred codec for the widest range of players correct? trying to make sure i dont kill my laptop with transcoding.
TIA
