I suspect the answer is no.
I have Jellyfin running on a Synology DS415+ nas.
A nice little machine, but with no transcoding capability.

I've gotten by fine with Plex and without transcoding as bandwidth is a non issue and the Plex client doesn't have a problem with my media.

Have now tried to move to Jellyfin and playing with transcoding enabled causes issues as the CPU can't keep up.
Disabling transcoding leaves the message "This client isn't compatible with the media and the server isn't sending a compatible media format."

Is there a path out of this using Jelyfin or is the Jelyfin client just not capable of decoding the variety of media the Plex client can?
Is this a goal for a future version of the client?

Even if my hardware could transcode I'd rather not just for efficiency sake.

Any suggestions without changing hardware or pre-transcoding my library?

I cant help you with your commerical NAS, but you can install VLC on your Android device and in Jellyfin app, you can set VLC as external player - Then it will support much more codecs etc.

I am assuming you are using the official Jellyfin for Android client. Make sure you are using the integrated player instead of the web player in the Jellyfin client settings. Your other option is to try Findroid. A great 3rd party video-only player. There is an option to use MPV if Exoplayer cannot direct play your media.
