    Hi all

I've had a good search and google but I can't find anyone with this issue.

Jellyfin ignores bitrate limits set in the dashboard both at a user or global level.

However if bitrate is set at the client side from the player UI, transcoding is triggered.

I'm sure I am missing something simple here!

EDIT: The server will transcode when the file isn't compatible with the client. Not based on streaming bitrate.

    Thanks

IIRC there may have been issues with certain clients. It works with most clients, though. I have tested -- or have users that use -- Firestick, Roku, Android mobile, iOS, web, webOS, uh....probably a few others too. Could you provide your Jellyfin logs via privatebin.net from a time when you've observed this behavior? Additionally any ffmpeg logs if the file was transcoding already.

    Hi

Thanks for the info I have tested Firestick and Google TV. Neither work unless transcoding due to incompatible format.

It's not capturing any logs because it's direct playing. When it is transcoding everything in the logs are as expected.

If there is something in the logs I am missing let me know Smiling-face

    Thanks Smiling-face
