I would like to know if there is a way to set Jellyfin to stop playing episodes after a certain timeframe. Like Netflix has with "Are you still watching". I wake up to my shows still playing after me being asleep for hours. Would be nice to get a prompt or something asking if I am still conscious.

Most TVs have a built in sleep timer. Usually maxes out at one hour, though.

I'll have to double check my Android TV client in a bit. What client are you using on your TV?

I am using a Roku with an older model TV. Could barely call it a smart TV.

We have A Fire TV Box. We used to use MrMC to watch at night when we went to bed. Our sleep timer goes up to 3 hrs and we typically set it for 2. With MrMC whenever the tv shut off, the episodes stopped streaming.

We switched to Jellyfin as it had a more robust interface but I notice with it, our shows play until the season of episodes in that folder ends. We usually watch the same series each night and it seems according to the logs to play every episode in the folder regardless of whether the tv tuned off or not.

I just realized searching this issue that you can integrate Jellyfin into MrMC and maybe that will resolve our issue...will test it out shortly.

It would be neat to see this native to the app though, as it's extra wear on the devices as our NAS shuts the drives down when inactive, so it's adding hours of usage time to the drive for no reason.

Which app are you using for Jellyfin on your TV? I had the issue you are describing on a rarely used smart TV. It didn't have HDMI CEC enabled so it never communicated to the attached CCwGTV that the TV was off and to stop. Once I enabled HDMI CEC it would stop playback once the TV went to sleep.

That worked! It was indeed unchecked.  Keep it simple, right?  Thanks for the suggestion.  That made my day!
