A little over a year ago a live sports "plugin" was released but it after i looked deeper into it I was unable to get it to make any m3u files. is there a alternative i could use out there

For the most part, live sports are copyright protected content and getting them into Jellyfin is generally not legally permissible. Jellyfin does, of course, support live TV streams. So if you have a sports channel on an IPTV provider, those will work. But plugins and such that repackage the streams for Jellyfin's use are probably not allowed.
