    Hi,

Whenever I watch one particular TV show, the WebOS app plays it for a bit and then crashes, and the error message says something like "App will now restart to free up memory." I have tried using the "Delete stream" and "throttle transcodes" options and they don't work.

The FFMpeg direct stream log is even less informative, because I don't know what I should be looking for.

Are there any settings I can toggle in the WebOS app that can fix this issue?

This only happens in the WebOS app on our TV, and only for this TV show, and nothing changes when I force transcode to h264 on the client side. It's the same as 'Auto.'

Are you using the ASS subs in this file?

Yeah, I guess so, that is a subtitle option, and I supposed I do use those subs. Why, is there an issue with them? What does ASS stand for?

ASS = Advanced Substation. Some subtitle types are rendered directly by your client. IIRC, WebOS will directly render ASS subtitles. I don't know for sure if the ASS subtitle renderer is brought in with Jellyfin or borrowed from WebOS. If it is like our other clients, it is borrowed from the host device. If WebOS is not managing its memory properly as you are watching an episode it will crash, like you're experiencing.

You can configure Jellyfin on your TV to always burn in certain kinds of subtitles, which would workaround this issue until Jellyfin or LG resolves the underlying issue.
