Hello everyone, im a noob so be patient with me.

I have a Samsung Tab S9+ with the official jellyfin app installed.

My library is full of anime series, all in this format

When playing any of my anime episodes my server uses the transcoding and not the direct play option. I'm using an old laptop as a server so it's really slow to load the episodes. Also i turned on the option to burn in subtitles when transcoding since sometimes they weren't synced properly. Also i can only use intel quick sync for hardware acceleration but i found it ineffective and the quality drops a lot, so i disabled it.

    Here's an example

The only way i found to use direct play is to change the video player type

but then the subtitles styling is lost and it's messy af especially for subtitles on signs.

So is there a way to have direct play (preferably with the web interface since i like it) and the subtitle styling together?

Try the findroid app, it's in the Playstore and has very good integration, everything I set to play it takes it as direct playback (most of them).

I just tried it and it works because it uses mpv as the video player. I don't like the interface and a lot of settings are missing.

Findroid is not meant as a full replacement for the official app. It is just a more robust video player with offline playback.
