Hello Boys 'n Girls
My Setup contains a Ugreen 4800 NAS with some HDDs and a new, blank SSD.
The HDDs are running in Raid5 as Storage Pool 1. One 500GB SSD establishes Storage Pool 2, completely empty as of now.
I have a media folder containing 1 Subfolder per movie, in there are thumbnails, backgrounds and the video file.
My PC is connected via LAN, my TV via WLAN, since this brand new TCL monster caps out at 100 MBit and this makes 4k60 content unwatchable choppy.
Currently my NAS is a pure media server (for my TV and PC) only and the browsing through my collection gets slower and slower: It takes roughly 5minutes holding down on the remote just to scroll through all the movies: The Loading of the thumbnails takes to much time when using HDDs I guess. On my PC everything is much faster, no idea why.
Since this is my first NAS and I'm a dummy win user that doesn't know anything about commando lines and "linux stuff" I need help.
What do I wanna do?
1. The SSD represents Storage Pool 2. I wanna move everything from my media folder to the SSD. Everything but the movies itself. How?
My Theorie: Browsing through the collection becomes super fast when cached from the SSD.
2. I wanna move the jellyfin installation to the SSD, or why not every bit of software - except the movie files of course. How?
My Theorie: Browsing through my collection doesn't ramp up the HDDs, because they are only needed when actually starting a movie.
There are at least a dozen more questions that I can't solve by googling, but let's first take care of the biggest issues :>
Thanks in advance, let me know if something is unclear, you'll need pictures or whatever - every help is welcome; cheers!
