I dont know what is going on but I've done several fresh installs with baremetal windows 11 and in Docker. In windows i get very slow UI load times almost unbearable, 10-30 seconds per screen. In docker the load times are very fast and snappy so im confused on how or why. But in docker i get allot more buffering in video playback. Then in both i absolutely cannot get direct play for live tv or HDR content. And lately I cannot get live tv to work consistently either playback error or 45 second load time with an error for direct play, almost looks like it loads twice before it comes on. Am i doing anything wrong? the only plug in i use is fanart, and tvdb. i am running it along side Emby and dont know if that has anything to do with it. the server is a 12900k with plenty of ram and on a m.2. The client playing the media is a Nvidia Shield.

I’m seeing very similar behavior on my setup, and it’s been extremely difficult to pin down. I’ve been struggling with severe Jellyfin performance issues for the past couple of months. I’m running Docker Desktop on Windows 11 with a full ARR stack, and no matter what client I use (primarily Roku), the Jellyfin UI takes several minutes to load. Media will eventually play, but navigating to it is a slog. Live TV is hit-or-miss, and anything that requires transcoding usually fails outright.
From everything I’ve researched, it looks like the bottleneck comes from the translation layer between Windows and WSL2. I tried creating a virtual ext4 disk inside WSL2 and moving the Jellyfin configuration there, but Docker keeps ignoring the bind mounts and spins up a fresh Jellyfin instance instead. I also experimented with running Jellyfin natively on Windows, but I haven’t been able to get my existing configuration migrated over.
There is a migration tool intended to move Jellyfin between Windows and Docker (in both directions theoretically), but so far I haven’t had success getting it to work. For reference, the tool is here:
