Hi! I have been trying to set up Jellyfin for Windows, with some success. However, I basically skipped step 2 of the quick start guide (the step about editing the web configuration file) without realizing it. I downloaded the stable version of the web config file from this page after the fact, but haven't done anything else. At this point I don't know what to do or what any of this actually means. The phrasing of "Our defaults sacrifice some absolute self-hosting for often requested features." in the quick start guide seems to imply that the step is somewhat optional, because there is a default state for it, but I can't tell for sure. (As a quick bit of feedback, I think some clearer wording in this section would be helpful!)

To get to the bottom line here: my goal is to use Jellyfin to stream my music collection to my phone, regardless of my location. I understand that I have additional work to do before I can do that securely, basically step 5 of the guide, but I'm not here to ask about that (yet). My question is, will not having edited the web config prevent me from doing this?
    Thanks!

You don't have to worry about editing the web config. It is not necessary to use Jellyfin.

The privacy stuff is for people that do not want any Google components, which there are by default for the Casting capability in Jellyfin. You can get casting free versions of Jellyfin if you absolutely do not want any non-FOSS components in your setup.
