Can strm files be sent to the client directly without getting dropped in the server?

I recently started playing with strm files. My entire library being in the cloud, this helps a lot.

While using strm files is fine in the server, can we stream it directly from the client instead of the file first dropping in the server and then streamed to the client? this way only the client’s bandwidth is used.

Is it possible?

This isn’t possible right now. The current way it is structured is for certain legal implications, which we’ve inherited from Emby.

That said, it may be worth opening an issue on https://features.jellyfin.org to have it as a setting in the server for the web client.

this will work if you are using Jellyfin as server and Kodi as client, I scan my google strm files and then use Kodi as client with Jellyfin add-on and the google drive add-on. if you set it up this way it will only work then with this setup as the strm files use the google add-on to play
