Hi, I'm Tom,
I am coming over from Plex, which is the service I have been using for the better part of 10 years now. All I want is to be able to view my own files, on my own device, where-ever I am. It looks like Jellyfin is the best going alternative. The reviews I've read are very promising, and the community here seems nicer than Plex. I look forward to learning how to best optimize my server, and meeting all of you. Thank you for having me Tom ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Hello, I'm Hyatt,
I've been testing out Jellyfin and Jellyseer with a full {apps we don't talk about - TDP} on my laptop and I'm very satisfied with it. Tailscale is used to funnel the Jellyfin and Jellyseerr apps out of network and ensure I can host anytime without needing modify the settings of whichever router I am connected to. I can effortlessly host my media server wherever I travel! I limit the outbound rate to 10mbps per user and transcode everything on the fly using Apple's VideoToolbox HW encode. I have been really happy with the results. Eat your heart out, Plex! ![]()

Hi! Im Chris.
I basically got into this because my career field shat the bed temporarily so Ive been unemployed for quite some time. Thought I would get into self hosting and see if I could be competent enough to do it. First it started with self hosted CCTV and when cost prevented me from doing so, I stumbled upon Jellyfin! I hope to learn as much as I can not only about Jellyfin, but what ever I can from you all. ![]() ![]() |
