    DLNA not possible for users

DLNA only possible if user is authorised to manage the server?

I switched to Jellyfin a few weeks ago and have built up my database in the meantime. Playback via DLNA on the TVs in the network has also worked perfectly so far.

Now I wanted to give the other users in my network the opportunity to watch their films and series. I realised that the other user accounts are not able to select a TV via the DLNA icon (via the Android app). Only the loading circle appears and no selection menu. The function is only available if I grant the corresponding user account the rights to manage the server. This of course harbours some dangers and cannot be what the inventor intended.

However, I cannot say whether this behaviour only occurs with version 10.10.0, as I have not yet tested this with the older version. With the update to version 10.10.0, I also updated the DLNA plugin to version 4. There are not many setting options within the plugin. The ‘Enable Play To’ option is active.

    Have I overlooked something here?

Are the TVs connected to Chromecasts? Or are you actually use DLNA for the TVs?

I don't use any additional devices like Chromecast with my TV (Samsung). So it should work directly via DLNA. The TV name also appears directly in the selection.

That sounds like my problem. However, I did not find a solution in the second link. What exactly should I do here?

Wait until 10.10.1 is released, unfortunately. Or build from source.

I have now installed version 10.10.2. It is now possible to select a DLNA device (without admin rights), but after starting playback on the device, no playback status appears in which I can pause, skip or stop playback. As soon as the admin rights are assigned again, it works. Is the problem already known?

Which admin rights are we talking about? "Allow remote control of other users"?

It is about the rights to manage the server. The playback status only appears in the Android app if this option is activated for the user. Previously, the problem was that users without management rights could not select any DLNA device. This has now been resolved with version 10.10.2.

It concerns the item ‘This user is authorised to manage the server’ in the user administration. Without this right, the ‘remote control’ no longer appears during playback in the Android app.
