Streaming device for 10-bit H.265, 4K, HDR?

Any advice on a streaming device that can handle very high bitrates? Talking over 35000 kb/s.

4k, HDR (HDR10 or Dolby Vision), H.265 (HVEC), 10-bit, Dolby True HD or DTS-HD MA

I have a "Chromcast with Google TV (4K)" but it chokes on these kind of streams when direct playing. PC's handle them perfectly (either in VLC or Jellyfin) so I'm fairly sure it's just horsepower.

I've seen the Nvidia Shield Pro mentioned, but hoping at $200 it isn't the only option.

a GMKtec miniPC (N100 or N150) gets you a very powerful iGPU for less than $130. If you only need to stream your own media, that's what I'd recommend. Lon.TV has a great review on one. If you also need to use it to stream sources like Netflix and Amazon Prime, you may find you are limited on quality due to PC DRM. In that case, using your Chromecast or a 4K FireTv might be your best option for streaming sources.

I have this same Chromecast and it can handle a 4K UHD 58,356 kbps bitrate movie, and others around the 35,000 range like you were talking about.

Are you using Tailscale on your Chromecast by chance? When I used it and connected to the Tailscale IP, I got stuttering in that kind of content. However, when I just connected to my server's local IP, it streamed without issue.

Have you ever checked your internet speed? If not, you can go to an internet browser app and go to fast.com.

Are you streaming over your LAN or WAN?

If LAN are you streaming over wifi or ethernet?

If wifi, can other devices stream successfully?  Maybe your wifi just isn't strong / good enough?

If WAN - is your upstream fast enough from your ISP?
