Do FireTVs have an "app only" mode? My understanding is that the frequent connects and disconnects are the FireTV scanning for new content to display on the home page. All of my Android TV clients and my friend's and family's Android TV clients are in "app only" mode and I don't have issues with frequent connects and disconnects. But they are not FireTV based Android TV devices. So I'm not sure if Amazon removed that feature.

No, it doesn't appear like they do. I assume it's so amazon can shamelessly spam ads at you on the homepage.

So, armed with the knowledge that Amazon's awful, ad-ridden launcher is what's causing this problem and not the Jellyfin android TV app, I think I've managed to solve this issue. It requires having adb installed on a pc, having adb/developer options enabled on your firestick, sideloading of custom launcher apps, and running a couple sh scripts to remap your home button to a custom launcher. Also, I disabled auto-updates as I'm sure Amazon will eventually update and disallow this type of modification.

From instructions in this thread, I installed Launcher Manager (Mini) on my Firestick 4K and installed Projectivity Launcher. After that, I followed the instructions from this post, paired with the updated .sh files from this post (to map my home button to Projectivity instead of the default Firestick homescreen).

After these steps, my activity logs are no longer spammed every five minutes by connections/disconnections from the android TV app.

If you could, can you write up a guide in the walk-through sub-forum to bring it all together into one post?

I guarantee you are not the only user with this issue and many would like to replicate what you've achieved.

I don't have time today, but I'll try to do so in the very near future. Hopefully the above links will point folks in the right direction for now!

An update: I haven't had a chance to write a tutorial, but it seems that after around a month, my changes have been reverted on my firestick, even with automatic updates disabled. Will update when I get around to tinkering with it again.
