    Hello,

I’m having some trouble with TV shows.

To start all my shows are labeled “S01Ep01 Pilot”

At random jellyfin has either duplicated episodes or moved select episodes into season 92 or 184.

I have double checked all the typed in labels for spelling or other mistakes with none found.

This is happening across pretty much all source formats weather it’s from DVDs or other sources.

I’m not sure how to go about fixing this as there’s easily 1000-1200 episodes from various shows mislabeled like this.

It's always best to include the show's name & date in the file's name & have it in a folder labelled by season (often - Pilots are "specials" & should be put in a folder called Specials depending on how the TVdb naming is) So - folders with seasons & specials inside a folder named for the series. Refer to the naming process on the Jellyfin website for complete instructions

The point of my question went completely over your head…….

    Yes my shows are labeled

    The dukes of hazard (1981)
    Season 01
    S01Ep01 Pilot

But that is not the point of my question
    The point is,
    One-This didn’t happen with plex
    Two-Why is this happening?
Thee-How do I fix it without individually correcting each episode considering theres 1000-1200

Well this has been extremely helpful

Guess I’ll just go back to plex once I get it working without an internet connection

    Cool, seeya.

    See: https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/server/media/shows/

Jellyfin isn't Plex, and your expectation that it's a drag-and-drop replacement is unrealistic. So too is your expectation that you can behave rudely and still have people lining up to help you.

    Good luck.

    I’m being rude…..
My first post has gone months with no response, and I’m being rude?

    Now this post,
Nobody answers my post for weeks, and I’m being rude?
Nobody has anything useful to contribute aside from YoU LaBeLeD YoUr FiLeS WrOnG…, and I’m being rude?

    Here’s my resume……

I’ve spent the better part of the last 3 years building this library collection. For the first 2-1/2 years I didn’t even have a server or a TV to play any of it on. Mostly all I did was burn DVDs and label files. Given there’s 1,100 different TV Shows yes. I am well aware of how to label the files properly so they are recognized by programs, With hundreds of thousands of episodes I made dam sure I was labeling them correctly from the start so I wouldn’t have to go back and relabel thousands of episodes. And like I also said in my opening post I have checked, double checked, and tripple checked all the labeling to see if there were any mistakes before I made this post.

The files/episodes that are having problems are NOT pilots, specials, or otherwise unique episodes.
The problem comes in normal regular season episodes, one example being S02Ep03, S02Ep09, S04Ep05, S06Ep07 dukes of hazard, jellyfin has shoved all of them into Season185 and then labels them S184-S02Ep03 ect ect for each episode.
If it was entire shows, or even entire seasons then yes, I labeled them wrong, but it’s completely random shows and random episodes.

So according to your logic jellyfin is suppos to miss label things because it’s a different program from plex….yeah that makes total sense as every media program should use a completely different labeling system……Kodi probably also uses a completely different labeling system…..especially for random episodes in the middle of seasons, they should definitely be labeled differently program to program…..

The "p" might be giving you trouble, Jellyfin expects "S02E03" for example, not "S02Ep03". There's lots of tools available out there for mass renaming and fixing of file names, such as FileBot.

Beyond that, I'm not going to provide any further troubleshooting until your attitude changes. I'm not particularly interested in providing volunteer support to someone who communicates this rudely. Jellyfin does not have paid customer support (or paid customers for that matter), so talking to members of the community with this much attitude, no matter how frustrated you are is not acceptable.

    Good luck.

I have the same problem, and ALL my shows are named according the naming convention described in the help section on the main website, but in my case jellyfin totally ignores the tree structure for shows, and displays the show title below every season image, and there's no way of knowing which is season 1,2,3,4 etc etc, and the ONLY way is to manually edit each metadata for each season, but in your case as you have bucket loads of seasons, manually editing each season metadata would be very, very time consuming.

I changed from Plex too, because they don't have offline streaming, and their excuse was that the server needs external authentication, which is bull, because jellyfin uses local authentication so why can't Plex.

This screenshot shows how jellyfin sees show seasons.
