Its a major release with breaking changes, and you are not a small, selfhosted app anymore.

This project is free, we get a top notch alternative to paid projects like Plex (an even better alternative tbh), and the devs don't earn anything besides donations. Besides, this particular release included a major database change and it was posted all over the place that bugs were obviously expected with first releases. You can't expect a major change to not have bugs, specially when released to the general public with countless different setups. Being a big project now doesn't make them owe us anything. THis is a community project, if there are bugs, you should report them to help troubleshooting, telling the devs they should test their releases more before releases will only drag the project down (bugs reported by general users are key to the project's success). Like the previous post said, that was uncalled for.

    Take it whatever you like..

    My point still stands..
The project is now too big for these situations..

1-2 more botched updates and you will remember me.

    Why?

Who are you and what do you think you're going to do?

There were lots of updates before release where they asked people to test it? What were you doing then because it certainly wasn't helping the project move forward.

You want something to be better? Get off your arse and help, don't do nothing and then complain (you can take this to every element of your life in the future).

That's exactly the error message I'm getting. Is there any workaround? Is there a way to delete all databases so that I can setup everything from scratch (except for my content like movies and shows) again? I don't really care for my username or settings. I just want to be able to use jellyfin again  Slightly-frowning-face

Holy hell some people are crazy and entitled huh...
I'm glad to be able to use a product as great as Jellyfin FOR COMPLETELY FREE.

I came in here to read what issues people were facing, and I am glad I haven't upgraded to 10.11 yet, until all major bugs have been squashed, but seeing some of the responses in here makes me worried for my lovely free product.
It makes me think of when I was a kid and was acting up and being a little bitch to my mom when she made me some food that wasn't to my preferences. Nobody on their team is obligated to do anything for us, who are we to demand things and try to command them. They take this shit to heart and still keep on working to bring us a great product - and it's because they love us. So stop being a little bitch and show some gratitude.

I imagine for most people it just works, with the minority of it breaking being more vocal about it. From what I gathered it was extensively tested with numerous release candidates. Heck, even Microsoft can't get windows 11 right, with numerous updates breaking something in the process. Software is always going to have bugs.

Running jellyfin in a rootless podman setup, with a substantially large library. Made a backup before upgrading. The upgrade itself took about 30 seconds. I was pleasantly surprised with how fast the migration was. Granted I am running my server on an 11th gen i5 intel cpu with 32GB of ram. Zero issues so far. So just want to thank the jellyfin team for such a huge update. Hopefully edge case scenarios for migration get ironed out further.

Works great for me. Updated to latest version without reading it was a major update. Nothing broke! I have a medium size library (~1200 movies, 12_000 episodes and 12_000 songs), so perhaps it helps. Running on a dedicated Linux (Ubuntu) server (no docker or VM). Posting so that people can read positive feedback.

Running Jellyfin on docker in Unraid. Ever since 10.11.0, Jellyfin can't stay running for more than 24 hours. It will crash and never recover. 10.11.1 doesnt seem to solve this. All previous versions were rock solid. Anyone know if a fix is coming?

If it's already filed as a bug, or you file a bug, or provide more information about this issue, then maybe. Otherwise, probably not.

    No, not really

    I appreciate their efforts.

But they need to understand that Jellyfin is now too big. Its not a pet project.

And no, being FOSS software doesnt mean everything is forgiven or there arent any procedures.

Now you're just sounding ignorant.  Expect any major "breaking" release to be more of a public beta.

And to be fair I sure as shit hope your on some paid forums ...cough cough Microsoft... If you're going to complain about an update breaking things.

It's just rude dude, very rude. Instead of being a negative Nancy, either A: learn to code and fix such bugs, or B report the bugs

Don't sound like a spoiled ungrateful child.
