Incase anyone comes to this I finally found a fix for my situation. You have to deselect 'Play default audio track regardless of language' or else it plays track 1. You have to do it on the web/server client since you can't change it on Roku.
My shows have English and Japanese, and I wanted English always for me as a user, so I just had to set my preferred audio language to English and deselect 'Play default audio track regardless of language' Then I didn't have to worry about which was track 1 anymore since it now always plays English.
