seems obvious to say running android you lose windows but what is this "other htpc devices"?
windows barely has HDR support in general based on my own experience so losing windows is not a bad thing in terms of home theater
i would recommend reconsidering how you have things setup if you want a higher end media experience, even a (very) cheap android device with CoreELEC can outpace windows without even trying
