The way the recently added endpoint works is a little odd. Basically, it returns a set number of video files that get grouped into their respective series. This is best explained in a couple scenarios. For the scenario's sake, we'll say it's 100 items (I don't actually know what the real cutoff is)
* You add 1-2 episodes of a bunch of different shows, you'll get back 100 episodes that are from mostly unique series, so they don't get grouped much and you wind up with a long list of recently added entries displayed
* You add a series with 300 episodes, you'll get back 100 episodes that get grouped down into only 1 show entry being displayed
It's pretty weird behavior if you're not expecting it, but changing it is quite a bit of work that hasn't been addressed yet.
