But switching to 480p would not load at all, and in fact made the Jellyfin player client crash. Only changing the quality back to a higher resolution, or just streaming direct would fix it

Hi, I have probably same issue... How did you manage to change back to higher quality? On Chrome player controls never appear - it just closes and I'm left back on the movie page. I can't find how to set plyback quality before starting to play. If I open the movie on Edge, it plays fine, but it's on Auto. Back on Chrome player crashes.

    When I selected 480p, I got:
    Code:
    [av1_nvenc @ 0x563bc5cb97c0] Codec not supported
[av1_nvenc @ 0x563bc5cb97c0] Provided device doesn't support required NVENC features
[vost#0:0/av1_nvenc @ 0x563bc5d2a940] Error initializing output stream: Error while opening encoder for output stream #0:0 - maybe incorrect parameters such as bit_rate, rate, width or height
[libfdk_aac @ 0x563bc5c8bc80] 2 frames left in the queue on closing
    Conversion failed!

When I switch quality on Edge or mobile app to force HW encoding, I get what I would expect:
    Code:
    [hls @ 0x564fb9c4a100] Opening '/cache/transcodes/e11bb24474296c34ccd0e9d8339365a1-1.mp4' for writing
