I actually decided to try Handbrake yesterday and encoded Star Wars Episode 1 from the Make MKV file. The Handbrake mp4 file that was created seems to work fine. I suppose it makes a lot of sense to use Handbrake with all the space savings it creates and so far it seems to be solving whatever problem with playback I was having. I'll try some of the other movies that were being problematic soon. That being said, I was wondering if you have any advice on what to encode it to on Hand Brake for standard Blu rays and for Standard DVDs? The Star Wars in MKV was about 39GB/ On Hand Brake I selected HQ 1080p H.264 with 24FPS and the file was only 4.3GB. Also did Star Trek The Motion Picture: original MKV was 33GB and encoded it to Super HQ 1080p H.265 with 24FPS. The new Star Trek file was only 2.8GB. They both look pretty good, but if you have any suggestions to improve quality please let me know. I don't mind having movie files that are closer to 10GB if it is worth it. For DVDs or even Blu Rays for that matter, will Hand Brake upgrade or upscale them if you choose resolutions that are higher than the original source?
