SOLVED: LG tv playback has started to lag/freeze every couple of seconds

Files that used to work a week ago now lag/freeze when I try to play them on my LG tv

TV ethernet controllers are notoriously bad. It is a check box they must check and they use the cheapest controller possible. The peak bandwidth is not a good indicator of the sustained throughput that video streaming requires.
