Different players have varying compatibility, so I recommend trying one of the various iOS players, like Jelly Mobile, Swiftfin, or Streamyfin, to see if you get better results. Disabling transcoding will likely cause playback issues on some devices, and there’s not much a developer can do about it. That’s why transcoding is enabled in the first place.
I see this different, and i'll tell you why.
See, i've been using Plex for a long time and all of my devices can play the media directly without transcoding or having any issues. Even 4K Media with HDR or DV (with any Profile) and DTS Master Audio (no matter how many channels) i can play perfectly.
The Media i use are all in a MKV Container, having h.264 Video and AC3/AAC Audio Codec, which can play at all my Devices directly without need to be transcode first.
So why should I put unnecessary strain on the CPU and cause it to heat up and consume more power?
So why this cant be possible with JellyFin at my iPhone? Maybe bc the Player is still in Beta Mode and still under construction? Thats okay, and i can wait.
As i said, my Android Devices can play all my Files Directly. Would be nice if the iPhones can do that too.
