Trouble playing video with dvdsub

To resurrect an old thread, I'm having the same issue.

Jellyfin (10.10.6) on NVIDIA Shield, playing a file with AAC 7.1 audio and a DVDSUB (Vobsub) track fails with "Too many errors. Giving up"

Changing to "Downmix to stereo" allows the file to play fine with subtitles.

I've got the same issue, DVDSUBS wont play except for when i downmix to stereo. I tried forcing transcoding to burn in the subtitles but i still get errors in the player. External players work but theyhave strange behaviours with playback (sometimes when i try to go back to the jellyfin homesome episodes get automatically skipped).
