I had endless issues, I found (not ideal) but just uninstall, wipe it all out. Install the newest version and its now blazing fast. Giant library scans are so so much faster. But before fully uninstalling and wiping out all server data, it was insanely slow after updating an older version. Constantly crashing also.
Sadly only fix was a fresh start with Jellyfin. Hopefully helps! Altho maybe not the ideal answer.
Another alternative to try, make sure there are no stray .nfo files or anything for missing content. Some said that was causing endless loops in searching.
