Sorry for necrobump, but this is the top result on DuckDuckGo when searching the exact error, so thought it might be useful to spell out the solution. The remux option is in per-user settings and is named "convert without transcoding". I had it disabled alongside transcoding because I am running on Raspberry Pi 4B, which cannot handle transcoding.
I had this exact error message on most of my content, on all devices using Web client or official app except for interestingly Android TV. Unofficial Findroid for Android works fine. Enabling remuxing fixes it, just takes couple seconds longer to load, looking at logs it's just changing containers from e.g. mkv to mp4 while keeping the codec.
