I don't see any occurrence of that path in your log. Neither as an INF nor ERR log entry.

Can you confirm that it was actually added to a library path. IIRC, we removed the ability to add new network paths directly into a library in 10.9.

I added the path into the library through the dashboard/libraries menu, just as I have done previously, though this time it does not allow you to enter the path in the lower box as it did before. The path then shows the subfolders contained within in the text box. When I go back to the library manager after it still shows the path liek it does for all the rest.

If you removed the ability to add library network paths, how are users supposed to add paths to their libraries?

Directly adding network paths was deprecated in 10.9. Existing libraries are grandfathered in.

We've long advocated for mounting network shares in the file system (drive letters in Windows, /etc/fstab in Linux). And this is a step toward that.

I don't recall if there have been any discussions on forcing existing network path libraries to be re-done.

So then how do users add network locations to their libraries? What is the process?

In Windows explorer, bring up the server hosting the network shares. Looks like \\MainPC in this case. Right click on the "Movies 4" network share and "Map network drive". Select a drive letter.

Now in Jellyfin Library settings add the drive letter you assigned to that share.

How is this different? The difference is who is responsible for communicating with the network share. When a network share is assigned a drive letter applications access the files on that network share as if it was a local drive. The application does not need to understand or support SMB. When an application accesses the network path directly the application needs to be able to use the SMB protocol.

Jellyfin returns an error that the path doesn't exist. Jellyfin also cannot see the Z drive in the drives list when adding a new source to the library.

This process is also not described in the wiki as best I can tell.

So a networked shared folder, because it's not the only thing on that drive, is then re-added to the PC as a drive letter which Jellyfin can't see or access. This is all just confusing at this point and frustrating for new users who won't be able to find these instructions easily.

This adds even further complication down the road with things like Collections that seem to must work solely on the direct file path location and not use library/title to populate. This location is not permanent so managing my library in the future brings additional work.

I have now attempted to directly add the original folder path and even that is failing to scan. Does Jellyfin also no longer look beyond just the root path added for sub-folders which then sort and contain each media folder? Starting to feel like Lando here with JFv10.

Even adding a direct path to the folder which then contains all media sub-folders fails. v10.9.3.

Weird quote not edit forum glitch.

On my Windows test setup, I have my SMB share mapped to a drive letter and have no issue navigating down. I have on drive letter for my entire library and use the M:\Movies, M:\Shows, etc., for each library.

Not sure if what you're experiencing is some sort of permissions issue. Does Jellyfin run as an admin or as your user? One thing with my test setup that may not be typical for other users is that my desktop Windows user name matches the SMB user (but different passwords). Not sure if that matters.

JF is run as admin. I just stopped and exited the server and restarted ensuring it runs as admin to confirm. No method of adding this source works despite it being setup just like multiple other sources and fully accessibly both locally and over the LAN by other programs and systems.

This folder/share/drive is on the same PC as another source that is already in the library and works as intended.

All of the media contained within was scanned fine in it's previous location.

I never had issues like this prior to v10 as that was the last time I added sources.
