Aggregate content from other streaming services into Jellyfin library

Alongside my local media files, I have bought licenses to a lot of movies and tv shows across different different streaming services like iTunes, Prime Video and Vudu over the years. However, I sometimes lose track of what content I already own and where I bought it from.

There should be a way to add content bought on services like Vudu or Apple TV to the Jellyfin library. Movies or tv series I have access to should show up in Jellyfin like native files, but for playback Jellyfin would deep link to the corresponding app.

Both Channels and Infuse have implemented this feature with the help of what they call "Stream Links":

Quote:With Channels DVR Server, you can import movies and TV shows from streaming services right into your library.
This is a simple way to aggregate content from other sources into your Channels library.

Stream Links are simple plain text files with URLs pointing to content on other services. They import into your Channels library just like Local Content. (...) Instead of a video that is played back, Channels knows that they are links and will open the appropriate streaming app to play them.

Please see my feature request for upvotes.

This is just not happening with Jellyfin. The main issue would be not breaking any other service's Terms of Service.
I've personally have brought up this idea in the past and was told by the current core maintainers it would not work due to that.

Unless there's a significant change in their view point, something like this is not going to be built for Jellyfin.

    Thanks for your evaluation.

However, I'm not sure we're actually talking about the same idea. I don't see how this should conflict with Terms of Service, as other services have implemented this already. It's basically just like fancy spreadsheet, that keeps track of the movie and tv-show purchases a user has made across different services. It's not actually hosting or playing any 3rd party content in Jellyfin or touching the DRM of those streams.

Could you maybe bring this topic up again with the devs? I've noticed over the last couple of years, that it's somewhat difficult to get this feature request across. Many people immediately assume that we want to host or play the DRM-protected inside of Jellyfin, which is NOT what the feature request is about.

Just look at this workaround by a Plex user to see to what length users have to go to:

    Hi,

I understand what you are trying to propose.
But this is simply not something we want to implement as a first class feature, if you want to propose a technical solution how to ensure all first-party intigration/clients could handle such a feature and how to implement that into the server from a technical standpoint, you are welcome to do so in our jellyfin-meta repo and after we discussed your technical proposal you can implement such feature.

But i doubt anyone from the team has the desire to implement that. We are all only doing this in our freetime and if nobody from the team wants to implement that and nobody else from the community does it, it will not get done.
    typos are finders, keepers.
