Android External Player Resetting Video Options

When I use an external player (VLC), the video/audio settings I selected are reset

I have a few anime movies, so I want to be able to pick between Japanese/English, but when using an external player, in this case VLC, even though I selected the Japanese version of the film, in Japanese audio, it will open the English version with English audio. I can still select the Japanese audio, but there is no way for me to then select the Japanese version of the film causing the lip syncing to be a bit wrong and the text not matching. Is there a way to fix this, or will I need to seperate the Movies in my library?

A lot of things break when using external players. I'm assuming this is Android TV? Why not exo or libVLC?

Not Android TV, its a Samsung S22 Ultra and Pixel 8 Pro (GrapheneOS). When I went to play the video in the web player, it wouldn't load, in the exo, it would just play the audio and no video. I believe some of that may come from hardware limitions of my server (A ZimaBlade which is an intel celeron N3450). I am going to try attaching a GPU to see if that improves things with the main 2 methods besides the external player.

Check out Findroid. A great 3rd party client. Includes MPV as a player option.
