    I recently set up my Jellyfin server on windows using the basic installation. I checked the "remote acess" button so i could watch my tv shows on my phone and tv but now everytime i go to watch a show/movie it says "Couldn't connect to the server". The only fix ive found is having to restart the server everytime i want to watching somthing outside of the servers pc. I thought i could just set it a side running constantly and that it would work just fine next to my router but now i have too have it hooked up to a screen with a mouse so i can restart it when i want too watch something. It isn't that big of a deal but it would be nice if it could just sit there. Im sorry if this is an easy fix but i couldnt find a clear answer to my problem.

    Im running jellyfin version 10.10.7
    Im just running it asthe desktop app not with docker or anything like that.

    Im pretty sure its when a client isn’t actively using the server for awhile
    It might be after i update the metadata but i don't think that's the case.

    This might be relavant since its with networks (im not that technical);
    The server pc is hooked up to ethernet to a mesh router that i use as my main wifi.

    Sounds like the Jellyfin server might be going to sleep or the network connection is dropping when idle. Try setting your Windows PC to never sleep and disable any power-saving settings for the network adapter. Also, make sure Jellyfin is added as an exception in your firewall. That usually fixes remote access issues like this.

    Welcome to the forum :-D

    It could sound like Windows is running in balance / power saving mode - Could you share more about your machines setup? Do you use external drives, internal drives?
    Have you configured Windows as a desktop machine just or have you configured it to act as a 24/7 server?
